Australia’s peak business organisation representing dental product manufacturers and suppliers, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), has a new strategic plan that seeks to build sustainable businesses across the entire dental sector.

The new plan is backed by a vision for an industry that empowers oral health professionals to advance the health and wellbeing of all Australians.

“At the heart of the 2016-20 ADIA Strategic Plan is an appreciation of the symbiotic relationship that exists between the dental industry and the dental profession,” explained ADIA chief executive officer, Troy Williams.

“ADIA’s objective therefore is to create an environment in which the industry and the profession work collaboratively to build sustainable businesses as a result of a nation that makes a greater investment in its oral health.”

ADIA’s experience in managing research projects will be used to develop a new understanding of how Australia can achieve a sustained increase in the demand for dental services, with the natural positive flow-on for ADIA member businesses.

“We will create initiatives which brings stakeholders together to develop pathways that help all Australians improve their oral health.  This aligns the interests of the dental industry and dental profession, and provides an opportunity for lasting collaboration between all stakeholders in the sector,” Williams said, adding that the strategic plan will also see a greater investment in statistics that analyse the market for dental products.

“The data that ADIA publishes on the market in which dental products are sold is highly valued by member businesses.  As a result of the new strategic plan, ADIA will commission additional research that will allow businesses across the industry to make informed decisions about the direction of their business.”

As a result of careful stewardship, a sound financial position and the support of a highly engaged membership, Williams said ADIA is better positioned than ever before to help the dental industry to grow, create jobs and operate sustainably.

“ADIA provides leadership, strategy, advocacy and support. Our members set our agenda, fund our activities and directly benefit from the results.”
