Dental Corporation co-founder and executive chairman Mr Mark Evans has been recognised among Australia’s most progressive and innovative individuals, winning the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the services category in the Southern Region.

Commenting on the win, Mark said: “It truly is a great honour to be recognised in such a prestigious competition. This award really reflects the innovation and dedication of the entire Dental Corporation team and our continued efforts to provide the best dental solutions to the market.”

Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year is considered the world’s most prestigious business award and the only truly global program of its kind.

Mark was honoured with winning the Southern Region award for Services which recognises individuals that have achieved outstanding commercial success through providing professional services.

Mark has over 20 years experience in corporate finance, investment banking and company management and has undertaken numerous Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) floats and capital and finance raisings across many industries. He had previously built the listed childcare centre operator, Kids Campus, from 6 to 120 centre’s before it was acquired for $180 million in 2006.

In 2007, Mark was approached by Dr Ray Khouri, with the idea of aggregating dental practices. Together they saw a huge potential in building a corporate dental model utilising a long-term independent partnership structure which is unique in the world market. Today, Dental Corporation is the largest dental provider in Australasia comprising 167 practices with annual turnover and EBITDA in excess of $300 million and $50 million respectively. The company provides management and back office services – finance, HR, IT and marketing – while allowing the dentists retain autonomy over the day-to-day operations at an individual practice level.

The Southern region winners and award recipients will go on to contend for the title of 2011 Australian Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the national awards in November.
