First introduced at IDS 2025, Dentsply Sirona, the global leader in digital dentistry, today announced that DS Core Diagnosefeatures are now live and available in Australia and New Zealand within the company’s cloud-based platform, DS Core.
The new DS Core Diagnose features are a set of diagnostic and patient communication tools integrated into DS Core, specifically in Canvas, the image viewer within DS Core – a digital space accessible from any device where X-rays, intraoral scans and more patient media can be displayed, annotated and shared with patients.
With its recent medical device certification in Australia and New Zealand, Canvas now enables diagnostic use directly within DS Core – without requiring local installations, specialized hardware, or Sidexis 4 deployment across the entire practice.
This advancement allows clinicians to access, assess, and collaborate on imaging data, from any device with DS Core.
Key New Capabilities of DS Core Diagnose features1:
- Certified diagnostic viewer: Canvas now offers medical-grade image quality for reviewing and diagnosing CBCT scans and 2D X-rays within DS Core.
- New diagnostic tools: Length measurements can be performed in longitudinal, cross-sectional, and axial views—supporting comprehensive, case-by-case evaluations.
- Smart view: AI-powered and CBCT-based illustrations for enhanced patient communication so patients can see anatomy such as teeth, bone, and nerve canals helping increase their trust in the diagnosis.
These tools make diagnostics more accessible, flexible, and collaborative—both within and beyond the dental practice.
DS Core can now also act as the primary storage solution for imaging data, further solidifying its role in supporting daily diagnostic workflows. This capability can help lower IT costs and complexity by reducing reliance on local servers and backups as duplicatestorage systems can be avoided.
