Septodont, a global provider of dental pain-management products, has entered into a global development and commercialisation partnership with Australian medtech startup Dentroid to advance non-invasive dental pain management.
At the core of the agreement is Dentroid’s patented Nuralyte® technology, which the company describes as the first dental device designed to provide largely needle-free pain management for common dental procedures.
Based on the principles of photobiomodulation (PBM), Nuralyte uses controlled light energy to target nerves within teeth and surrounding tissues. Dentroid says the technology is being developed to reduce or potentially replace the need for local anesthetic injections in some dental procedures, though it has not yet reached widespread commercial use.
The partnership is notable because Septodont is one of the world’s largest providers of dental pain-management products. The company says approximately 30 anesthetic cartridges it manufactures are injected worldwide every second, making its investment in non-invasive alternatives a significant strategic move.

Under the agreement, Septodont and Dentroid will collaborate on the continued development and global commercialisation of Nuralyte technology.
The companies say the partnership combines Septodont’s expertise in dental pain management with Dentroid’s photonics-based technology platform to develop non-invasive solutions aimed at improving patient comfort and reducing barriers to care.
