The sky’s the limit with RFDS scholarship

plane-and-ute_RTHealth students from country Victoria are encouraged to reach for the skies by applying for a Give Them Wings scholarship, offered by the Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria and Rural Health Workforce Australia. The scholarships, valued at $2,500 each, are for first year nursing and allied health students at Victorian universities. The scholarship package includes a Royal Flying Doctor experience, giving successful candidates a behind-the-scenes look at one of Australia’s most iconic organisations.

Now in its fourth year, Give Them Wings is generously supported by volunteer fundraising from the Bayside Auxiliary of RFDS Victoria.

“These scholarships are designed to give country students a flying start at university,” said Scott Chapman, CEO of RFDS Victoria. “They also symbolise our commitment to tackle the shortage of health professionals in rural areas.”

His comments were echoed by RHWA CEO Greg Mundy, who said: “Country students are a big part of the future of rural health. We’re delighted to support them with this scholarship and also connect them to our network of university Rural Health Clubs.”
Applications for the 2015 ‘Give Them Wings’ scholarships close on 31 March. Further details, including the application form, are available here.
