Heidi Health is a note capture program that works on any browser. There is a free version so you can give it a try. After that, it’s a monthly subscription.
What’s good about it
We began by using the free version and was impressed by what this product can do. We moved to a paid subscription and very little verbal training was needed by the AI software to get started. Then, once a patient’s name or identifier is added, you click record and just start talking. It’s also necessary to get permission from the patient prior to recording.
It uses AI to transcribe the conversation and can be used in a consult or an appointment. The transcription will then be accurately summarised into your notes. They need to be reviewed but I’ve found little need to make changes—just a tweak here and there. The accuracy is exceptional. It understands brand names, drugs and dental terms. It also differentiates between the two people speaking.
The subscription service includes a tasks option. If you mention you are going to refer the patient to a maxillofacial surgeon, it will write the referral so all you have to do is click on it and sign. If there are postoperative instructions, it will list these as tasks. You can ask a question and it will read through the transcription and find the relevant information.
It’s a time-saver that allows you to look after your patients rather than write notes. I love this product. It’s been one of the biggest improvements I’ve experienced in my practice for ages.
What’s not so good
The microphone on the computer was having trouble picking up our conversation so the dentists now wear a wireless microphone clipped to their scrubs. You also have to ensure the recording is turned off after each patient. If you forget, it will blend two patients together.
