dental adhesive

OptiBond FL is a light cured, dental adhesive. It’s simple to use, very reliable and offers superior bonding in a variety of situations.

What’s good about it

This product is perfect for composite fillings, veneers, inlays and onlays. I’ve been using it for many years with hardly any failures. According to the research, the bonding strength of OptiBond FL is better than any other product.

It can be applied to wet or dry surfaces and there is very little postoperative sensitivity. I have patients coming back for return appointments for years and years, and the longevity of this product is just remarkable.

There have been different types of OptiBond over the years and a recent product is OptiBond Solo. This is a single bottle adhesive but I prefer the two-bottle system. All my composites stay in place forever, so why would I change products?

What’s not so good

OptiBond FL is a two-bottle system, meaning that primer is applied first and then the bonding agent. Other adhesive systems are just a one-bottle system, making it faster to use. Despite being a bit slow efficiency-wise, the results are so good that I intend to stick with this product. The other minor problem is that the consistency of the bond is quite thick. It just takes a little time and practice to spread it evenly and thinly onto the tooth.

Where did you get it
