implant system

The MIS implant system is used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or an entire missing arch. You can create a full-length bridge using these implants and it can be used for support underneath dentures to give stability.

What’s good about it

We’ve gone with this system because it’s really simple to use. In fact, that’s the company’s philosophy—MIS stands for ‘make it simple’. The surgical kit is colour-coded based on what type of implant is being used. It’s designed to be easy for dentists to use—just pick up the drill from left to right. Basically, you just follow the colour based on what width of implant is being used. This system allows you to create a surgical guide using a cone beam and an impression. The guide directs the implant to the best position.

We’ve been using the MIS system in our clinic for about 10 years. Prior to this we tried other systems but MIS provides really good results. The placement of the implant is comfortable and quick because the whole system is streamlined. Our patients have been extremely happy with the results.

Like most dental practices, our implant work has increased over the past decade. Patients really love the fact that implants are much more comfortable than dentures.

What’s not so good

It’s hard to say anything bad about this product. The company is based in Melbourne and they provide great education courses. To attend a course, you have to travel to Melbourne. It also needs to be remembered that not all patients are suitable for implants. It may be for medical reasons or it may just be cost prohibitive.
